The Markazine
A year in the making, the Markazine–the Markaz’s first-ever community magazine–is here! Featuring content from artists, alumni, and students, the magazine celebrates 10 Years of the center and its vibrant community.
What's Inside
Community Timeline
From its beginnings as a student-run, student-initiated center, the Markaz has grown from a few empty rooms in the Nitery to a lively center supporting many aspects of student life, from mentorship to storytelling to Muslim mental health. The Markazine tracks key moments in the development of the center and community as a whole, in a timeline reflecting on the past decade.
Interviews
Markaz Alumni Parsa Nowruzi ‘19, Faatimah Soloman ‘20, and Maya Salameh ‘22 and current senior Yusuf Zahurullah ‘24 share their reflections on the expansion of the center and the nature of community advocacy and change. In the process, they share their visions for the future of the center, and the nature of Muslim-adjacent identity at Stanford.
Community Art
Featuring student art and writing, the Markazine showcases the talents and artistic voices of its community, with works spanning regions, identities, and mediums.
