Anti-Islamophobia Teaching Fellow

OVERVIEW
The Anti-Islamophobia Teaching Fellow (ATF) will oversee Markaz's anti-Islamophobia efforts. Through educational advocacy, the ATF will contribute to public discourse around Islam, Muslims, and Islamophobia at Stanford, as well as empower the Stanford Muslim community. In collaboration with professional staff, you will be expected to:
- Create a dynamic syllabus for a 1-2 unit 10-week seminar on “Interrogating Islamophobia”, offered through the Center for Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity (CCSRE). This course is meant to enhance the community discourse on Islamophobia in America by exploring its conceptual roots, contemporary manifestations, and counter efforts.
- Co-facilitate the course with Markaz Director(s) in the Fall Quarter:
- Attend and co-lead weekly lessons
- Be available to students for guidance, mentorship, discussions
- Help with logistics (booking space, meals, etc.)
- Debrief with Director(s) on pedagogical strategies, assessment, etc.
OTHER DETAILS
- Duration: Fellowship will be active September - December 2024, with the possibility to extend in Winter and Spring Quarter.
- Compensation: The Teaching Fellow will receive a stipend of $1000/quarter. A small separate budget for this series will be available.
- Eligibility:
- Students must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or co-terms
- Students must be enrolled for Fall 2024 with no plans for study abroad
- Students from all departments / schools can apply

- Decision (Offer / Announcement): May 10, 2024
